Philosophy & Approach
I work with adults who are committed to creating sustainable change in their lives. My approach is based on the belief that every individual possesses their own unique strengths and knowledge that can be accessed to overcome challenges and navigate life's transitions. I take an integrative, mindfulness-based, and strength-focused approach, with the goal of empowering individuals to be their own change agents and achieve optimum emotional and spiritual well-being. My approach is designed to meet you where you're at, and address the whole person - mind, body, and spirit - within the context of your community and culture. Through deep listening, non-judgmental support, and compassionate guidance, I guide you towards greater authenticity and wholeness.
Background
I have had a diverse career that started in the graphics arts industry, where I worked as a craftsperson, teacher, and consultant for many years. However, I felt compelled to pursue a career in counseling and art therapy. To accomplish this, I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art from San Jose State University and a Masters in Art Therapy and Counseling from Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon.
